AMAZING!! Art Therapy Grants

Variety the Children’s Charity of New York http://varietyny.org/ supports grassroots nonprofit organizations in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut whose programs use the arts as a catalyst to transform the lives of children in underserved communities. Variety believes that the arts have the power to create new opportunities for, build self-confidence in, and ultimately change the lives of the children it serves.
To that end, Variety New York is inviting Letters of Interest from nonprofit organizations for arts-related programs that have an impact on the lives of children in underserved communities in the tri-state area. Program(s) must fall into one of three focus areas — art therapy, arts education, and arts for social change.
1) Art Therapy: This area provides funding for programs that use formal therapy programs with licensed arts therapists to support the individual and social growth of children experiencing mental or physical traumas. Therapy programs may incorporate any arts medium, including but not limited to music, dance ,and the visual and performing arts.
2) Arts Education: The Arts Education category supports programs that use the arts in or out of school to support individual, interpersonal, academic, vocational, or civic outcomes for youth. Programs should focus on the creative process rather than the ultimate product (although the products resulting from these programs are often of high quality).
3) Arts for Social Change: This area supports programs that use the arts as a mechanism by which youth contribute to community development, social change, and/or social justice efforts. The focus of these programs is often multifaceted, with outcomes at the community level as well as the individual youth level.
Variety New York awards grants of up to $20,000 per project or program. First-year applicants typically receive grants of up to $5,000.
Letters of Interest must be received no later than November 21, 2016. Upon review, selected applicants will be invited to submit a full application.
See the Variety New York website for complete program guidelines and application instructions.
